Board-certified pediatric dentists are held to the highest standards in pediatric dental care, having completed specialized training and a voluntary certification process. For Dr. Andrea Aduna, that certification reflects deep expertise and a commitment to the latest advances, which is a solid foundation for your child's lifelong oral health.
The AAPD recommends an initial oral evaluation by Age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth. Your child's first visit includes a facility tour, a gentle exam with Dr. Andrea, and time to talk through brushing, flossing, and diet. For children under three, that first appointment is complimentary.
Take the first slot of the morning. We open at 8:30 Monday through Thursday and are closed Fridays and weekends, so an 8:30 appointment means Arnold Drive to US-101 before the day gets busy and back in Sonoma by lunch. Siblings can be booked back to back, and with checkups every three to six months that is about two trips a year per child. Families from Glen Ellen and The Springs tell us the drive has become part of the routine.
Call (415) 408-5775 first and we will tell you. A dull ache that flares with cold or sweets, a small bump on the gum, or a chip with no pain can usually wait for a scheduled visit within a few days. Facial swelling, a fever with tooth pain, or pain that keeps your child up at night should be looked at the same day. And bleeding that will not stop, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a possible broken jaw means the emergency room in Sonoma, not a drive to Novato.
Frequency matters more than amount. Sipping lemonade or juice all afternoon bathes teeth in acid and sugar continuously, and dried fruit from the Sonoma Plaza farmers market sticks to molars for hours. Keep sweets and acidic drinks to mealtimes, offer water in between, and wait about 30 minutes after something acidic before brushing so softened enamel is not scrubbed away. Fluoride at your checkups helps harden enamel against exactly this.
Yes. The first visit sets up everything after it: your child learns the office, Dr. Andrea sees how the first teeth are coming in and checks the ones most likely to get early cavities, and you leave with a brushing and bottle plan that fits your family. For children under three that visit is complimentary. Many Boyes Hot Springs and Prestwood families pair the 8:30 slot with a morning in Novato and are home before nap time.
